Itinerary

Day 1: Tamale – Sognayilli

The tour starts at 9 am with a city tour of Tamale. We will visit the Zongo leather factory, the cattle market and the big mosque. Lunch will be taken in Tamale. In the afternoon we move to Sognayilli, a small village close to Tamale without electricity or running water. We will tour the village, pay a visit to the chief and interact with the locals; you can learn how to prepare Kuli-kuli or how to give a traditional baby massage. Dinner will be taken in Sognayilli and the night will be spent in a guesthouse made in the style of the local architecture.

Day 2: Sognayilli – Mognori

Today we will move towards Mole National Park. Our first stop here is Mognori eco-village, located right next to the park. Here we will go on a canoe safari inside the park and tour the village. The night will be spent in a traditional home in Mognori.

Day 3: Mognori – Mole

Early in the morning we will go on a walking safari in Mole National Park. After this you have free time to relax at the pool, rent a bicycle or go on a jeep safari. The night will be spent at a campsite inside the park.

Day 4: Mole – Karimenga

In the morning, we drive to Larabanga to see the centuries-old mosque and the mystery stone. Then we move on to Tamale, where we will have lunch, and further to Karimenga. After dinner, a storyteller will recite some of the traditional stories that have been passed on for generations. You will spend this night at the greenhouse guesthouse in Karimenga.

Day 5: Karimenga – Tongo – Karimenga

Today, we go to Tongo. This place is set in a beautiful landscape and we will go on a guided tour in this environment. The tour includes a visit to the sacred shrine. At lunchtime, we have a picnic in Tongo and then move back to Karimenga. In the afternoon, we go on a herbal tour in Karimenga and visit a soothsayer. As this is our last evening together, we will have a small celebration with drumming and dancing.

Day 6: Karimenga – Tamale

This morning, you have some more time in Karimenga before we go back to Tamale. You can use it to learn about traditional weaving, go for a fishing trip, sea shea nut butter processing or rent a bicycle. At 10 am we move back to Tamale where our trip ends
