Seven days for exploring the coast of Ghana is a good amount of time to get a feel for some of the great places to visit, and definitely enough time to soak up some quality rays on the sandy shores.  This trip will take you to Elmina/Cape Coast area for some of the popular travel destinations there like the castles and shrines; then continue onto the beautiful empty beaches of the Western Region.  When you're not enjoying the beaches and water, you will take some day trips to the wonderful natural sites of the Western Region like Nzulezu Stilt village and Ankasa Reserve.

Itinerary

Day 1:  Leave Accra, drive down the coast to Cape Coast. On the way you will get to see some of rural Ghana and some Pushuban shrines.  When you reach Cape Coast you will have lunch and walk around the city exploring the colonial architecture and wall paintings.  You will then stay the night at an Eco-lodge on a beach outside of Elmina, Stumble Inn beach Resort.

Day 2 : After your  breakfast in the cool sea breeze of the morning, you will drive into Elmina to explore the Portuguese castle on the point off of Elmina, along with the Dutch fort on the hill above.  In the afternoon you can take a walking tour of the village with highlights being the pushuban shrines and the colonial church, you will stay another night at Stumble Inn Beach Resort.

Day 3:  Mid-morning after breakfast, your driver/guide will drive you further down the coast line, with a stop in Takoradi for a nice seafood lunch before continuing on to the small out of the way community of Beyin.  Here you will enjoy your evening on the clean beautiful beach.

Day 4:  On this morning you will be temporary distracted from the beach with a trip to Nzulezu Stilt Village in the morning.  This will involve a canoe trip through the Amasuri wetlands with great views of jungle reflecting on the water as you go through tunnels of foliage in the boat.  You will then come up to the most amazing little community that has made their homes on stilts above the lakes surface.  Their whole lives revolve around the lake, and they take a canoe to go anywhere including their fields.  In the afternoon you can relax on the beach or explore the castle in the village of Beyin

Day 5:  In the morning you will take another day trip and drive to Ankasa Reserve.  At Ankasa there are a number of things you can do: you can take a short hike to the Bamboo Cathedral, or the short nature education walk, or take some longer hikes on the miles of trails in the park.  After a day in the jungle you will drive outside of the park and enjoy a home cooked meal at a Cocoa farm in the cool hills right outside the park at Frenchman's Farm before returning to Beyin for the night.

Day 6:  Spend one last day in Beyin enjoying the beach. If you are content with the amount of beach time you had, you can take a day trip to Axim to explore the castle there and walk through the community and market.

Day 7: On this last day, you will head towards Accra  your final destination after your breakfast in the morning.
