Departure Dates For This Trip is SECOND (2ND) Wednessday And THIRD Saturday Of Every Month.Effective September,2012 - May 2013

Casually walking the streets of Cape Coast will offer many sights sounds and smells, from the cooking at chop bars, markets along the streets, and the murals painted on the walls through the town.  A little further inland is the amazing Kakum national park with the main gate area offering a bridged walk through the canopies of the rainforest, guided walks of the forest with interpretation of the plants and their traditional medicinal uses.

A little farther afield from the main gate is the community based ecotourism village of Mosomagor, which draws guests with an orchestra of handmade wind instruments, and walks in the national park where guests can stay on a tree platform in the forest.  With so much to do, the major challenge will be deciding what it is that you would like to do on this 3 day trip while leaving some time to relax on the beach. A great time for this trip is during September to coincide with the Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival, with highlights being an amazing, colorful, dancing, and drumming dubar parade that goes through the streets of Cape Coast before ended up in a square by the coast where all the chiefs come together for the people

Itinerary

Day 1:  You will leave Accra in the morning and reach the village of Abanze about mid-morning, where you will take a short break from the car travel to stretch your legs and climb the steps up the hill to Fort Amsterdam (Cormantin). It is still an amazing standing structure and is interesting to see before visiting the Castles of Cape Coast and Elmina, which have been restored and are more frequented by tourists.  You will reach  your Beach Resort at around noon for lunch.  You will be able to settle into your room and relax on the beach.

Day 2:  In the cooler hours of the morning you will drive into Cape Coast and visit the castle there. It will take most of the morning to take in the whole experience of Cape Coast Castle which used to be the seat of the English Government of the Gold Coast Colony.  After the castle you can enjoy the view and great meals at castle view restaurant next door right on the beach.  Spend the afternoon doing some shopping in the market or wandering the lazy colonial streets of Cape Coast, or return to your beach resort  to enjoy the rays on the beach.

Day 3:  For the last day of your trip you can squeeze out some more beach time or take a day trip to Elmina to see the Castle there and Ft. St. Jago on the hill along with the pushuban shrines in the village.   In the cooler hours of the morning you will head out again on a day trip, this time to Kakum National park.  Here you will take the famous Canopy Walk, then take a guided walk through the rainforest where you will be able to slow down and listen to the forest.  Your Wildlife division guide will also point out a number of the plants and talk to you about their traditional medicinal uses.  You will then have time to explore the main-gate interpretation center, before returning to  beach for the afternoon  In the afternoon you will drive back to Accra arriving in the early evening.
