Culture

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Kosa seeks to promote and preserve local culture and food. Learning drumming in Ghana is a joyful experience. Patrick and Nicole want to promote the culture of Ghana and have employed community members who are experienced Ghanaian instructors who teach clients according to their level and speed of learning. After a refreshing swim in the Atlantic and breakfast you start with the drum training. They teach with traditional Ghanaian drums like the Kpanlogo or the Fontom from (The Talking Drum) rhythms from all over the country. You can also book single lessons in drumming.

On Tuesday it is the tradition in Ampenyi not to play the drums until 12 noon, which they and their clients respect.

Their facilities have been developed using local materials and local skills. From roof to beds, linen and room decoration they are all locally made. They purchase their food stuffs, vegetables and fruits from the local community and employ local people as re-thatching workers, building workers, security officers, waiters and provide training for their staff for skills development.
